Welcome to Elemental Human. This is a very new offering and this website is still under development. Please contact info@elementalhuman.ca to connect.
I have spent my life helping people become more fully themselves.
I’m Allison. An educator, facilitator, program designer, nature-based practitioner, death doula, grief coach, and the founder of Elemental Human.
For sixteen years, I worked in classrooms. I later led outdoor and community programs, created learning experiences for children and adults, supported people through change, and studied how thoughtful design can make participation more possible. Across all of that work, one truth kept returning: people do better when they are not asked to abandon their humanity in order to belong, succeed, or be supported.
Elemental Human grew from that truth and from my own experience of burnout, recovery, identity, grief, reinvention, and choosing a more authored life.
A framework for remembering what modern life makes easy to forget
Elemental Human is not a new truth, and it does not claim ownership over nature’s wisdom. It is a modern, practical framework for remembering something timeless: humans flourish when we live in rhythm with nature, with one another, and with ourselves.
We are embodied. We are emotional. We make meaning. We need purpose and agency. We move through seasons. We require both support and participation.
The four elements give us a simple way to notice the whole picture:
Earth asks what supports the body and practical life.
Water makes room for emotion, care, grief, and connection.
Air creates space for reflection, clarity, language, and perspective.
Fire reconnects us with energy, purpose, protection, and choice.
No element is better than another. None is a personality type. The framework does not tell you who you are; it helps you listen for what needs your attention now.
Permission changes what becomes possible.
I believe humans are not machines and wholeness matters more than optimization. Discomfort is information. Readiness matters more than someone else’s timeline. Burnout is often shaped by systems, not simply by individual habits. Good support reduces unnecessary friction while preserving agency.
I also believe that support should not remove us from the work of being human. It should help us stay in it.
That is why Elemental Human does not promise a life without discomfort or tell you to think your way out of every feeling. It offers curiosity instead of suppression, self-blame, or frantic fixing. It helps you make intentional choices from what is actually true.
Participation is required. The path is flexible.
Gentle does not mean passive.
My work is calm, grounded, practical, inclusive, and quietly honest. I will not position myself as the expert on your life. I will offer structure, questions, reflection, education, and compassionate challenge while you remain the author.
Depending on the work, we may use conversation, writing, movement, nature, planning, creative reflection, seasonal practices, or the Elemental Reset. We begin with reality, respect capacity, and choose actions that can be lived—not merely imagined.
My background includes:
16 years of classroom teaching and experience as a multi-age outdoor educator;
a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Educational Technology;
program leadership, facilitation, instructional design, community programming, and adult learning;
a Permaculture Design Certificate;
Death Doula certification;
Life, Wellness, and Grief Coaching certification;
a lived experience with recovery, burnout, major life transitions, and building a more intentional next chapter.
My professional experience informs this work. My humility keeps me listening.
You are welcome here.
Elemental Human is committed to creating respectful, trauma-aware, queer-affirming, and inclusive spaces. Your identity, family, body, beliefs, capacity, and lived experience will not be treated as problems to overcome. I will work within my scope, name my limits, and refer to other professionals when your needs are better served elsewhere.
We can begin by talking about where you are, what you need, and whether my approach feels like the right fit.
