Welcome to Elemental Human. This is a very new offering and this website is still under development. Please contact info@elementalhuman.ca to connect.
Elemental Human has been percolating in the back of my mind for years. Through countless transformational moments, I’ve seen my life gain new meaning through community, connection, and a deep relationship with the natural world.
As I begin sharing Elemental Human with the world, I imagine a welcoming space where we can slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what truly matters. Life often feels chaotic and full of demands, expectations, and noise. But beneath all that busyness, there’s a part of us longing to feel grounded, connected, inspired, and alive.
That’s where the four elements come in.
For thousands of years and across many cultures, Earth, Air, Water, and Fire have helped people explain the natural world and their place within it. For me, these elements are more than symbols; they’re practical tools for living an intentional, joyful life. Here’s how I see them and how they guide me:
🌍 Earth: The Body and the Basics
Earth is where we start. It’s our home, our health, and the habits that sustain us. Earth calls me back to nourishment: good food, deep rest, safe spaces, and a sense of stability.
When life feels scattered, Earth is what grounds me. It reminds me to pause, plant my feet, and return to the present moment. For years, I jumped from fad to fad trying to “fix” my body, only to end up feeling frustrated and ashamed. Earth taught me that real change comes from small, steady shifts that create routines to honor my body and create lasting wellness.
💧 Water: The Heart and Emotions
Water is flow. It’s how we feel, heal, and connect with others. Water teaches me to soften and let emotions move through me instead of bottling them up or pushing them aside.
For a long time, I thought I was “good” at feeling my emotions. Then, one day the dam burst and I felt completely overwhelmed. Like a river shaping the land, my emotions shape me. They teach me who I am.
Water reminds me that vulnerability isn’t weakness; it’s the key to authentic connection. When I allow myself to float in calm waters, I can rest and enjoy the journey. And when rapids come, I trust myself to ride them out until I reach stillness again.
🌬️ Air: The Spirit and the Mind
Air is breath, clarity, and perspective. It’s what helps us rise above the noise and see the bigger picture. For some, Air shows up as religion or spirituality. For others, it’s found in nature, creativity, or quiet reflection.
Air gives me permission to release what I can’t control. It reminds me I’m not alone and invites me to connect with something larger than myself. When I get stuck in the details, Air whispers, “There’s more here,” urging me toward curiosity, creativity, and meaning.
🔥 Fire: The Passions and the Drive
Fire is energy is the spark that says, “This matters.” Fire invites us to pursue what lights us up and create with courage.
For years, I wore “busy” like a badge of honor. I measured my worth by how many tasks I could check off, yet I felt unfulfilled. Fire taught me that my time and energy should align with my values. When they do, my inner flame burns bright and steady.
Fire also teaches balance. Too much and I burn out, too little and I feel stuck. The goal is a steady flame that fuels me forward without consuming my essence.
✨ What’s Next
Over the next year, we’ll explore these elements together. Each season, we’ll focus on one element — starting this fall with Earth. Expect conversations about daily routines, health, grounding practices, and the practical side of work and money.
My hope is that this blog becomes a place where you can reflect, experiment with new practices, and feel supported as you grow into your most elemental self — rooted in nature, thriving in life.
So take a deep breath. Plant your feet. Let’s begin.
